Contact UsReno, NV (Feb. 7, 2025) – At approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning, Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue (TMFR) Engine 32 responded to a single-vehicle accident on northbound I-580 on the Galena Creek Bridge. Shortly after positioning the engine to block the accident for the safety of responders on the scene, a motor vehicle struck the rear of the fire engine at a high rate of speed. TMFR personnel were not injured.
TMFR immediately extricated the patient from the vehicle for transport to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle succumbed to injuries sustained from the accident. The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
This unfortunate accident reminds motorists to slow down during inclement and icy weather and exercise caution when approaching a roadway emergency.
