The mission of the human resources department is to support the goals and challenges of Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue by providing services that promote a work environment that is characterized by fair treatment of staff, open communications, personal accountability, trust and mutual respect. We will seek and provide solutions to workplace issues that support and optimize the operating principles of the organization.

The Community We Serve

Located in Northern Nevada, along the eastern slopes of the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains in northwestern Nevada. The county covers an area of 6,600 square miles bordering California and Oregon. The county seat is the City of Reno, the third largest city in Nevada. Reno boasts a bustling downtown, diverse neighborhoods, Nevada’s flagship state university, and a top-ranked international airport.

The region is experiencing growth in new construction response demand. Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue is an all risk agency providing service to approximately 100,000 citizens in 1000 square miles of suburban and rural properties within the District. Additionally, the District protects another 5000 square miles of unincorporated Washoe County by way of an interlocal agreement and mutual aid Federal and Tribal partners.
