Fire Hydrant Access & Parking Near Hydrants

You can do your part to help ensure firefighters can access fire hydrants. Please ensure unobstructed access to fire hydrants, do not park within 15 feet of hydrants, and keep hydrants clear of snow and debris and accessible within a three-foot radius. It is illegal to park in or obstruct an officially designated fire lane or fire hydrant.

Hydrant Painting

Please do not paint, decorate, graffiti or deface fire hydrants. They are painted with colors for specific reasons such as jurisdictional ownership and gallons per minute of water the hydrant discharges.

Unauthorized Use of Hydrants

Only authorized governmental entities are allowed to use water fire hydrants within unincorporated Washoe County.
Please check the applicable water system (TMWA, SVGID or Great Basin Water Company) Rules and/or Regulations.
