Contact UsReno, NV – May 20, 2025. Today, the Board of Fire Commissioners for the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) adopted the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025-26 budget. Estimated general fund expenditures are $53,928,570, an increase of 4 percent from the current FY ending June 30, 2025. Total general fund revenues are estimated at $54,901,454, an increase of 9 percent from the estimated current year.
“The 2025-26 fiscal year budget is lean and responsible given the current economic conditions,” said Interim Fire Chief Dale Way. “We appreciate the support of the Fire Commissioners and will diligently monitor fiscal conditions in the months to come. Truckee Meadows Fire is committed to providing a high level of service and emergency response throughout Washoe County.” The FY 2025-26 budget includes the District’s twice-a-year seasonal green waste collection days.
The Fire District is funded by a designated property tax in unincorporated Washoe County and consolidated sales tax (primarily sales tax). TMFPD’s jurisdiction is approximately 1,000 square miles, and serves a large and geographically diverse service area. The District also provides service north into unincorporated Washoe County.
