Contact UsReno, NV (Feb. 19, 2026) – Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) will conduct pile burn operations, weather permitting, at the Sun Valley Regional Park (5905 Sidehill Drive) on Friday, February 20, and Saturday, February 21.
The Sun Valley Regional Park has 535 piles over a 150-acre area. Given the area’s size and the number of piles, residents of Sun Valley, North Valleys, and Spanish Springs could be impacted by smoke if inversions set in after ignitions.
Additionally, TMFPD plans on conducting pile burning in the Silver Lake area near the Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Station (11525 Red Rock Road), weather permitting. Approximately 40 piles will be ignited on Saturday, February 21.
Smoke might impact the Red Rock area. Please use caution when driving on Red Rock Road, as visibility may be limited. Residents of Silver Lake and North Valleys could be affected by smoke if inversions set in after the ignitions.
Piles will be attended to at all times.
If you are sensitive to smoke, please stay indoors or limit your time outdoors with windows and doors closed. Please don’t report smoke in the area to our local dispatch centers.
