Contact UsReno, NV (Mar. 11, 2026) – On Thursday, March 12, through Friday, March 13, weather permitting, Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) will conduct pile burn operations near Brown’s Creek (20102 Hibbet Trail Road) off of Mt. Rose Hwy (State Route 431). Approximately 50 piles will be ignited.
Smoke might impact the Mt. Rose Hwy area. Please use caution when driving on the highway, as visibility may be limited. Residents of the Tannenbaum and Sky Tavern area could be affected by smoke if inversions set in after the ignitions.
Pile burns will be attended to throughout the day.
If you are sensitive to smoke, please stay indoors or limit your time outdoors with windows and doors closed. Please don’t report smoke in the area to our local dispatch centers.
